Human and other mammalian bite injuries of the hand: evaluation and management.
The hand is the most common site for bite injuries. Because of specific characteristics of hand anatomy, bite mechanics, and organisms found in human and animal saliva, even small wounds can lead to aggressive infections. Failure to recognize and treat hand bites can result in significant morbidity. Human and animal bites most commonly lead to polymicrobial bacterial infections with a mixture o...

متن کاملMicrobiology of animal bite wound infections.
The microbiology of animal bite wound infections in humans is often polymicrobial, with a broad mixture of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. Bacteria recovered from infected bite wounds are most often reflective of the oral flora of the biting animal, which can also be influenced by the microbiome of their ingested prey and other foods. Bacteria may also originate from the victim's own skin...

Cardiorespiratory resuscitation was unsuccessful and...
متن کاملFirst case of a dog bite wound infection caused by Streptococcus minor in human
We report the first case of human infection caused by Streptococcus minor in a 51-year-old immunocompetent woman admitted for dog bite injuries. At present, the role of Streptococcus minor in bite wound infections is unknown. Further studies on virulence factors are needed to elucidate its pathogenicity mechanisms.
